Shawn "Shawn Melody" Rowser Sr. and Tim "Ric Supreme" Laurence are the two major forces that make up THE CORTLAND CONNECTION. They have come up with a fresh and unique approach to music with an album soon to be released on the TMG label, called TAKING IT BACK.
The album is called TAKING IT BACK because they feel that rap music is not where it should be anymore. There really is no originality to the music... as Ric Supreme says in one of their tracks, "Everything sounds like 90's remixes." They are taking it back in the sense that the music they create is OLD SCHOOL ON PURPOSE with a brand new twist, and taking rap back from all these corny so called artists that call themselves rappers and producers.
Shawn Melody and Ric Supreme are from Syracuse and Bronx New York, respectively. They met through a mutual friend who was in the band that Ric Supreme is still in, called The X'PLOZIONZ. When the two met they realized each others talent and vowed to get together to do something real soon.
When they finally got together it was one year later. And since then they have been coming up with track after track after track. Eventually Tate Music Group saw the talent in the two and signed them. Now, they are on the cusp of the release of their first album called TAKING IT BACK with definitely more to come in the future.
